Lithuanian MEP: Belarusian NPP mentioned in every EP resolution

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]MEP from Lithuania Petras Auštrevičius told “Belsat” that an ad hoc group of EP representatives may soon come to Astravets.

“Astravets NPP construction is mentioned in every European Parliament resolution. But Mr Lukashenka has managed to conceal this matter from European politicians,” says MEP from Lithuania Petras Auštrevičius.

According to the initiator of an informal ad hoc group on the Belarusian NPP in the European Parliament led by the representative of the “Green” Rebecca Harms from Germany, in the near future, members of this group are expected to visit Astravets.

“We see a number of shortcomings in the construction of the nuclear power plant. I hope that Belarus understands the importance of responsible dialogue with its neighbors and the EU,” said Petras Auštrevičius.

In conversation with the correspondent of “Belsat” the MEP noted that the construction of the Belarusian NPP is not in line with Europe’s energy policy.

“Europe is moving away from nuclear power. Belarus is going backwards. I find it hard to understand why this is happening. Is this a kind of strategy?” asked Petras Auštrevičius.
