Lithuanian police detain airsoft gun team. Find illegal weapons


Anti-terror police in the Lithuanian city of Nemenčinė have detained dozens of armed men in Russian uniform.

Vilnius Chief County Police office has reported that a group of 12 men was arrested near the town of Nyamyanchynu.

On the morning of May 21, law enforcement officers received a report about activities in the forest near Nemenčinė. A group of armed men was seen carrying weapons. The police with “Aras” anti-terrorist squad arrived at the scene.

According to Ramunas Matonis, Vilnius Police Department press secretary, the police detained at the specified location 12 men with automatic weapons, some of them were wearing camouflage overalls and t-shirts of Russian paratroopers.

Later it turned out that the weapons were airsoft guns that looked no different from real firearms. Each of the men had several guns, some with a telescopic sight, some had improvised explosive devices.

The homes of some detainees were later searched and illegal weapons, ammunition and possibly improvised explosive devices were found.

Vilnius County Police launched an investigation into the illegal possession of firearms, explosives and ammunition.
