Last year Belarusians bought $1 bln worth of cars

More than 90% cars are imported into Belarus from Russia.

“Last year, Belarusians took nearly $1 billion out of the country to acquire cars. If these cars were purchased within the country, a third of that amount would go to the state budget,” said at the press conference Chairman of the Board of the Belarusian Automobile Association Syarhei Mihnevich.

According to Mikhnevich, car imports bypassing official dealers in 2015 amounted to about 24 thousand. This is almost half of the market (about 50 thousand cars were registered in the country, the official dealers sold 26 thousand). More than 90% of cars are imported from Russia, in 2013 the figure was 16%.
