Landfill near village Prybar: no money for waste disposal

You can be fined from 5 to 50 base units, if you take your garbage into the woods. But people in the Homiel region are not afraid. They create spontaneous dumps a few kilometers from the regional center.

On the outskirts of the Prybar village near Homiel, the locals have been forced to walk literally on garbage. Some are saving 60 thousand on the contract for garbage collection, and others urge to increase penalties.

POLL:

“Walking for 9 years on trash.”

“It is a mentality – it is better to throw away than to pay.”

The ad-hoc landfill is exactly on the border of the local administrative areas of the village council and the Soviet district of Homiel. It turns out, the garbage is thrown by the residents of the regional center, and is to be removed using the money from the village council budget. Predictably, there is not enough money for it.

“Half of it is in the Soviet rayon area, and we believe that the garbage, most likely, is brought from there. Of course, we will do something about it, but we need the funding.”

According to local authorities, the problem is that not all have contracts for garbage disposal, and it is the only solution to the situation that they have in the village council. Perhaps experience of other regions could help, when spontaneous dumps have special photoradars installed, but Prybary village council has no money for it. Through the carelessness of some, others are forced to live almost in landfills.

“No air to breathe in the summer.”

The Prybary village council official noted that the problem with garbage is typical. He mentioned a neighboring village Randouka as an example. There. the spontaneous landfill was removed, but after a while the locals made a new one.
