Where did 150,000 Ukrainians go?

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyCxjcsehSM”][vc_column_text]Recently, the UN representative for Refugees in Belarus said that in the last two years to our country came 150 thousand Ukrainians. It would seem that during this time our southern neighbors contributed to the significant migratory increase, but the official statistics provide a figure which is ten times smaller.

According to the National Statistics Committee, in the first 9 months of this year only 15 and a half thousand people came to Belarus from Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.

The Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs told us that the claimed 150 thousand Ukrainians are still in Belarus, but they have various statuses, so the migration statistics does count them in. But last year, the number of migrants in our country was practically the same – the increase in 2014 was the same 15 thousand people for the whole year. Among them are not only our southern neighbors.

Incidentally, last year, in the period from April to December, a temporary or permanent residence was received by a total of about eight and a half thousand Ukrainians, and a work permit — by a little over 20 thousand.[vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row]
