A woman who first gave wine to, and then dropped from the 12th floor her 3 year old son has been sentenced at Minsk city court. The defendant asked for the death penalty. Her defender asked for her eight years in prison.
Inna Zubovich has been sentenced to 23 years of imprisonment to be served in a penal colony under the general regime. But the Minsk residents we surveyed earlier said the killer mother was not the only one to blame for the tragedy that occurred on January 28 this year.
At the trial, the 34-year-old woman from Minsk admitted that she had twice tried to commit suicide. However, psychological and psychiatric examination revealed she was fine. The prosecutor asked for the woman to get 25 years in prison. This is the maximum sentence under the relevant article (according to Belarusian law, a woman cannot get a life sentence or death penalty).
Now Inna Zubovich has ten days to appeal the verdict. But earlier she had admitted her guilt in full, therefore, said her lawyer, she will not use this opportunity.
