KGB sheds light on arrest of Ukrainian top manager


Belarusian KGB has reported that the chairman of the “Heaver Plant,” citizen of Ukraine Oleksandr Skyba was detained in Minsk while giving a bribe in the amount of $ 2,800 to the Chief Metallurgist of the Minsk Tractor Plant Andrey Karas. Andrey Karas’ son acted as an intermediary in the process.

The KGB also documented the fact of another bribe in the amount of USD 1,700 received by Mr Mezgoyam. head of JSC “Minsk Tractor Works” logistics department, from representatives of some commercial enterprises.

“In total, more than 20 cases of corrupt activities of “Minsk Tractor Works” officials for a total sum of more than 40K USD were discovered,” the KGB reported.

MTZ employees are currently being prosecuted under Article 430 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus; Mr Skyba is prosecuted under part 2 of the article 431 of the Criminal Code. All persons involved in the case are now behind bars.

Meanwhile, the KGB has transferred the MTZ case to the Investigative Committee.

Last week it became known that the Belarusian secret services detained the head of the company “Heaver Plant” (Donetsk region) Oleksandr Skyba. The top manager arrived in Minsk on November 15 for talks with the MTZ, with whom the Ukrainian company has a contract for the supply of products, which is used by the Belarusian plant.
