Vox populi. No use remembering Belarus Prime Minister’s name?

In the course of a man-on-the street interview for Forum talk show, Belsat TV journalist asked passers-by to give the names of the incumbent Prime Minister and the first Belarusian Nobel laureate in Literature.

The sad truth is that the task happened to be too difficult.

“Kabakou…Kebakou … Myasnikov… or some surname starting with P,” the passers-by tried to recall.

“I do not know!” “We are indifferent to politics!” some of them admitted.

Now Andrey Kabyakou is Prime Minister of Belarus. A number of interviewees mentioned the name of his predecessor, Mikhail Myasnikovich.

Surprisingly, the name of Svetlana Alexievich, who won the 2015 Nobel Prize in Literature, is familiar not to the whole nation as well.

But each Belarusian seems to know who is the leader of the country.
