KGB: Yury Chyzh pleaded guilty and compensated damage

Belarus State Security Committee has confirmed that the businessman Yury Chyzh had his measure of restraint changed.

The KGB noted that Belarus has a uniform approach to the investigation of financial crimes, regardless of a person’s identity. If the accused is found guilty and repays the damage, there is no need of further detention.

“All decisions in this criminal case were taken strictly in accordance with Part 1 of Art. 88 (exemption from criminal liability in connection with the voluntary compensation of the damage caused, payment of income obtained by criminal means) of the Criminal Code of Belarus,” spokesman for the KGB Dzmitry Pabyarzhyn told TUT.by.

Yesterday it became known that one of the richest men in the country, Yury Chyzh, was released from the KGB jail, where he had been since March this year. The businessman was released on September 14 on bail.

Earlier, Alyaksandr Lukashenka said that Yury Chyzh was indicted and ready to compensate for the losses that amounted to “12 or 13 million dollars”.
