Jewish treasure from WWII found in Hrodna

The found treasure

There were adornments, coins, including old ones, crowns and several pieces of paper, “Hrodna.life” reports.

Probably, the Jews hid the valuables before the liquidation of the ghetto.

The treasure was found by the builder Uladzimir Strakovich. He told us how it was:

“When I was fixing the roof, I saw a box. At first, I did not attach any importance to it, but afterwards I looked and opened it. And there was gold: different coins, chains, rings and stuff. I was shocked”.

The authorities called representatives of the historical-archaeological museum and the police. According to the first estimates of the museum staff, the treasure found is valuable. Most likely, it was hidden by Hrodna Jews during the German occupation of 1941-1943.
