IVAN fails to get into "Eurovision-2016" final

Alyaksandr ‘IVAN’ Ivanou, a representative of Belarus at the 2016 Eurovision song contest, performed the song Help Me Fly.

IVAN appeared on the Eurovision stage in the company of 3D wolves. The singer expressed confidence that he would reach the final, but bookmakers doubted that the Belarusian had a good chance of success.

After running a promotion campaign, IVAN did move up to rank 31, but this position did not allow him to get into the final Top 26.

According to bookmakers, Russian Sergei Lazarev with the song You Are The Only One is the odds-on favourite of the show. At the same time, his tough competitor is Ukrainian singer Jamala. She performed the song 1944 dedicated to the tragedy of Crimean Tatars deported by Stalinists.

The first ten finalists (beside those already known,Sweden, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and United Kingdom), will participate in the Grand Final of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, which takes place on Saturday the 14th of May. Another ten finalists will be chosen in the second Semi-Final.

The 2016 Eurovision Song Contest is held in the capital of Sweden, Stockholm. It is the second time in history the city hosts the contest. The right for hosting the contest came when Måns Zelmerlöw brought home the trophy with his song Heroes from Vienna in 2015. The second Semi-Final takes place tonight, 12th of May, live from the Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden, from 21:00 to 23:05 CET. Watch it on Eurovision.tv or on YouTube.
