Inflation in Belarus: IMF not optimistic

Inflation can be reduced to 5%, believes the Belarus Economy Minister Uladzimir Zinouski. IMF experts predict a 9% rise in prices.

According to official statistics, in the first six months, inflation reached almost 3.5%. Mr Zinouski also agrees with forecasts of the authorities about the two per cent GDP growth by the end of the year.

So far, in 2017, the GDP has grown by only 1% compared to the same period last year.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development believes that the Belarus’ GDP this year will not rise but fall by 0.5%, while the World Bank was even more dire predictions — the decline of 1%.
