Infamous ex-prosecutor of Crimea marries Russia’s human rights official - media


Natalia Poklonskaya, 38, a Russian MP and former prosecutor general of Crimea, allegedly married Ivan Solovyov, 47, chief of staff of Russia’s Commissioner for Human Rights.

According to a number of Russian media outlets, the registration of marriage took place in Crimea.

The wedding was ‘modest, but tasteful’. Daily Storm reports. Some deputies, relatives and colleagues were present at the ceremony.

Natalia Poklonskaya, however, failed to confirm or deny the information.

I am not ready to comment on my private life,“she said.

In June 2017, Poklonskaya revealed the fact of her breaking up with a man whom she used to call ‘husband’. According to her, she pretended to be oficially married to avoid harassment.

In 2015, Russian president Vladimir Putin awarded Natalia Poklonskaya with the rank of Judicial Counsellor 3 Class.This military rank is similar to that of Major General. Previously, Poklonskaya served as a Senior Counsellor of Justice, which is equivalent to the rank of colonel.

In March, 2014 the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yury Chaika issued the order on creation of prosecutor’s office of the Republic of Crimea and prosecutor’s office of the city of Sevastopol in system of prosecutor’s office of the Russian Federation. Natalia Poklonskaya was appointed as the acting prosecutor of Crimea. On May 2 she was appointed as the prosecutor of the Republic of Crimea by Russian Federation Presidential Decree.

Ukraine’s Interior Ministry put Poklonskaya on a wanted list for ‘acts committed for the purpose of forcible change or overthrow of the constitutional order or the seizure of state power, as well as conspiracy to commit such acts” (Art. 109 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Natalia Poklonskaya became a popular Internet meme. She is a prototype for the character ‘Obvinyashka’ [Accuser] in the free computer game ‘Prime World’.
