In pursuit of harvest: Belarus president to visit troubled farms

Alyaksandr Lukashenka is set to visit inefficient farms in various regions of Belarus.

“My trips (I want to unveil this secret) to Brest, Mahiliou and then Vitsebsk regions will focus on troubled farms. We will visit these farms,” state-run news agency quotes him as saying.

According to the Belarusian leader, each district has only 3 or 4 troubled and distressed farms, to which local officials should pay special attention.

“Tackle the problems! Do not monkey around the district pretending you are keeping an eye on everything. Go to a place where you are really needed. Heads of district executive committees are individually responsible for the troubled farms. That is why they have been given a free hand,” he said in early August.
