IMF allocates $17.5 billion to Ukraine

The financial assistance is planned for 4 years, Bloomberg reports. Money from the International Monetary Fund will be used to support the Ukrainian economy

“Unfortunately, this money cannot be used for welfare payments, pensions, or salaries. Unfortunately, this money cannot be used directly for the improvement of living standards. But this money guarantees the growth of the Ukrainian economy,” Ukrainska Pravda quoted Ukrainian Prime Minister Yatsenyuk.

Last month, the IMF approved a program of financial assistance for Ukraine in the amount of $40 billion for four years. It was noted that the fund will allocate the country $7.5 billion as an additional credit line, and the remaining sum will be allocated by the EU and individual EU countries together with private investors.
