Images of Russian green men appear on Minsk walls

The image of a ‘green man’ – armed soldier of Russia’s GRU special forces – appeared in Aranskaya street in Minsk. It is still unclear who is behind the creative idea.

Unknown Minsk artists keep reminding the locals of the aggressive threat.

The cut-out shape was superimposed on the painted wall of the transformer house. Initially, beautiful landscapes were depicted there. Still, the image of a camouflaged Russian soldier failed to melt into the background.

At first, municipal employees tried removing it with the help of a palette knife. When the attempt came empty, they decided to cover the green man with paint.

‘Little green men’ – troops in uniform of unclear national origin – gained notoriety during Russia’s annexation of Crimea in March, 2014.
