Head coach of Belarus grass hockey champions in fight with judges

The main match of the Belarus grass hockey championship among men’s teams between Brest “Budaunik” and the hockey club “Minsk” ended in a fight. The head coach of the Minsk team, Syarhei Drazdou, after the match was over tried to hit the referee from Smalevichy Alyaksandr Hrachou.

The fight was nipped in the bud by other judges and staff of the Brest club.

There are only seven teams playing in the Belarus men’s hockey championship, but only two of them are competing for the championship title. The rest are so weak that they usually lose to the Brest and Minsk teams. Last season, the Minsk team, for the first time in its history, was able to win gold medals.

The match between the “Budaunik” and the hockey club “Minsk” is the decisive for the champion’s title. On June 3, in Brest, the hosts defeated the Minsk team 2: 1. In the middle of the second half, after the goal into the gate of the Brest team was not counted, the Minsk head coach Syarhei Drazdou ran onto the field and began to insult the judge Alyaksandr Hrachou. For this he was removed from the bench. Mr Drazdou long time refused to obey the referee’s decision, but he was forced to leave the bench. But after the game, Mr Drazdou decided to have it out with the judge – he grabbed Mr Hrachou’s neck and tried to hit him in the face, but the fight was stopped. Syarhei Drazdou refused to comment on the incident, and both sides asked the journalists to not publish the information about it.
