Head of BPF: We are not interested in wasting energy on Statkevich initiative

BPF leader Alyaksei Yanukevich said that his political force is not very interested in the initiative of the former political prisoner Mikalai Statkevich.

The politician told so to BelaPAN, commenting on the creation of a new coalition and the launch of a public campaign to delegitimize the current presidential elections and hold the new ones, naviny.by reports.

According to Yanukevich, he sees no practical sense in such activities: “Everything that is aimed at preventing fraud, I think to be positive. If people want to do something or even just verbally bring this up, let them do it. But we are not interested in spending our forces and energy on it. Obviously, this work is limited to a repetition of the same allegations the BPF Party has repeatedly made to the effect that these elections cannot be considered free and fair.”

He noted that the work on fixing fraud during the electoral process is being done within the campaign observation called “Right to choose.” “I do not see any sense in rushing and breaking this anti-fraud work conducted by “Right to choose” just for some PR,” the politician said.

At the same time Yanukevich did not rule out co-ordination with the new coalition, if the question arises, “about exchange of information, some practical issues.”

On August 28, at the press conference, former political prisoner and presidential candidate in 2010 announced the launch of a public campaign aiming to show to people that the election is already rigged.
