Belarusian documentary filmmaking still exists due to Belsat TV – film director

Yury Khashchavatski, a famous filmmaker and author of Ordinary President, is deeply concerned over the current situation.

On Sunday evening, Witold Wazczykowski, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, voiced the ministry’s plans of the channel’s transition to a web mode and its journalists’ transfer to TVP Polonia.

‘The fact that Belsat is a thorn in the flesh of the Belarusian authorities is apparent. Therefore, it does take the appropriate position. Moreover, Belsat TV is of a huge cultural importance for Belarus. It is mainly thanks to Belsat TV that documentaries are still filmed in Belarus, that we still have real journalists, real interviews, a real exchange of views. That is what we may lose. This is terrible,” Khashchavatski said.
