At the first meeting of the organizing committee for the celebration of Freedom Day on March 25 was discussed the format of the street rally.
The meeting was attended by Chairman of the organizing committee of the Belarusian Popular Front Party Alyaksei Yanukevich and the United Civil Party Anatol Lyabedzka, Deputy Chairman of the movement “For Freedom” Ales Lahvinets, a former political prisoner Mikalai Statkevich and the leader of the movement “Together” Vyachaslau Siuchyk. The organizing committee of the Freedom Day also includes representatives of the organizing committee of the party “Belarusian Christian Democracy” and the Belarusian Social Democratic party (Hramada).
This year, the organizing committee decided to change the route of the rally. In previous years, participants of the Freedom Day gathered near the “Academy of Sciences” metro station and walked to the park of Friendship of Peoples near the Bangalore Square. Now the organizing committee intends to declare the march route along Independence Avenue to Yanka Kupala Park to lay flowers at the monument to the poet.
The Organizing Committee also agreed to turn to the Chairwoman of the Council of the Belarusian People’s Republic (BNR) Ivonka Survila proposal in advance to write a congratulatory text for the Freedom Day, to be used in the preparation of information campaign for the rally in Minsk.
The next meeting of the organizing committee will be held on 9 February.
