Former Defense Minister Leanid Maltsau becomes MITSO vice-rector


According to the MITSO press service, Leanid Maltsau has served as Vice-Rector of the University for Innovation and Research since 5 April 2017.

This is a new position in the MITSO leadership — previously it did not exist. The press service of the university did not explain what exactly the former official would be doing in this position,

As the university staff noted, Mr Maltsau had already began to carry out his duties.

Leanid Maltsau is 67 years old, he has the rank of Colonel General. In the past Maltsau headed the Ministry of Defense (in 1995-1996 and in 2001-2009), the Security Council (2009-2013), the KGB (2013) and the State Border Committee (2013-2016).
