'For Donbas': Crimea resident vandalizes memorial to Heavenly Hundred in Kyiv


A man vandalized a Heavenly Hundred Heroes memorial set up in downtown Kyiv.

He broke granite plates commemorating the victims of a police crackdown on protesters in February 2014, Ukrainian news agency Unian reports.



The man, who is currently residing in Crimea’s Sevastopol, was detained by local police. The investigative and operational group is working on the scene.

According to hromadzke.ua, the attacker was heard shouting “This is for Donbas.”

Granite plates in memory of those killed at the Maidan were installed in 2014.

Belarusian Mikhail Zhyzneuski also Heavenly Hundred Hero

The 25-year-old Belarusian Mikhail Zhyzneuski died on January 22, 2014 as a result of clashes with law enforcement officers on the Grushevskogo street in Kyiv. According to the official version, the cause of death of the Belarusian was gunshot wounds. The hero of the Heavenly Hundred was buried on January 28 at the cemetery in the village of Abrezy in the Homiel region.
