Alyaksandr Lukashenka’s skis are prepared for the winter in Finland, Sami Heiskanen, a sports equipment dealer and renowned expert on skis, said in an interview with Ilta-Sanomat.
Heiskanen, who used to be a skier in the past, has recently received a few pairs of rare skis from Belarus.
“It is the second time I have polished Lukashenka’s skis. Especially for him, Austria’s Fisher plant manufactured excellent skis of the same premium class as those of the athletes from the Belarusian team. Lukashenka seems to be fond of skate skiing. I do not remember any ordinary skis of him,” said Heiskanen.
The Belarusian national biathlon team is also among his customers, which is not surprising – head coach Adrian Cybulski is a good friend of Sami Heiskanen.
“The main sponsor of the team is Lukashenka, that is the state. Therefore, no wonder that the head of the state also has everything of the highest quality when being on the ski track,” Heiskanen stressed.
In his opinion, it is no crime to provide services to Lukashenka:
“I have no compunctions about it. I do not care where the orderer comes from as long as they pay money. In the winter of 2013, it was the Russians who accounted for 40% of my earnings; I had customers of Belarus as well.”
