Information about the death of Svetlana Alexievich, the 2015 Nobel Prize in Literature winner, appeared on Twitter on Thursday.

The news was immediately spread by a number of French and Russian media outlets.

When contacted by reporters, the Belarusian writer denied the information. Alexievich is now in Seoul, she is safe and sound, Radio Liberty reports.

The Twitter account was believed to belonged to France’s newly-appointed Culture Minister Francoise Nyssen , but later it became known that it had been created by Italian ‘provocative journalist’ Tommaso Debenedetti.
