Expecting downturn: Lukashenka urges govt to ‘think about people’

The government should focus on people and manufacturing in its economic policy, Belarus President Alyaksandr Lukashenka said on Monday after Deputy Prime Minister Vasil Matsyusheuski presented the government’s outlook for the year 2016.

“With all problems and difficulties out there – and there will be many more – we need to think about people, manufacturing, development, and get our job done,” Lukashenka stressed.

The President demanded that the future prospects be thoroughle studied.

“We need to broaden the scope and take a wider look at what is going on. This will be the true analysis,” the Belarusian leader said.

When preparing its vision of the country’s economic development for 2016, for the medium term, the government analyzed 12 fundamental factors affecting the development of the country’s economy.
