EU Special Representative for Human Rights arrives in Minsk


EU Special Representative for Human Rights Stavros Lambrinidis will meet with the authorities, political parties and human rights activists.

He arrived in Belarus in the evening of March 8th. This visit is the first one made “for the promotion of human rights dialogue between Belarus and the EU, which was restored in July 2015”, noted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Earlier it was reported that Lambrinidis’ visit will continue until March 11th. He will meet with representatives of the Belarusian authorities, as well as political parties, civil society and human rights defenders.

Today, the EU Special Representative is meeting with the Head of the House of Representatives Uladzimir Andreichanka to discuss the development of dialogue on human rights.

On March 10, Stavros Lambrinidis will participate in the international conference on the death penalty, which will be held in Minsk hotel “Renaissance”.
