The official Journal of the European Union has published the names of 24 persons from whom the sanctions were lifted.
The Council considers there are no longer grounds to keep a number of persons and entities on the list of those who are subject to restrictive measures.
Is is noteworthy that Uladzimir Peftsieu and Anatoly Ternavsky (Univest-M; FLLC Unis Oil; JLLC UnivestStroyInvest), businessmen, with active participation in financial operations involving the Lukashenka family, are blacklisted anymore. In 2010, American magazine Forbes, named Peftsieu second richest man in Belarus, after Lukashenka. According to estimates, his investments are worth about one billion dollars. As the EUobserver once reported, companies owned by Peftsieu are mostly used for money laundering, which then are directed to personal fund of the Belarusian president, constituting de facto second state budget.
Triple conglomerate that belongs to Yury Chyzh, another oligarch of Lukashenka’s era, have been struck off as well.
