EP working group on Belarus: 'Isolation strategies have lost effectiveness'

The Euronest Parliamentary Assembly has appointed today Agnieszka Kozłowska-Rajewicz as co-chair of the Belarus Working Group. The EPP Group MEP, together with her counterpart from Moldova, will chair the Working Group during the next five years.

“I feel a lot of responsibility and eagerness to work towards building partnerships between Eastern European countries. This is an important task, especially given the crisis situation in Ukraine. Europe must constantly develop new strategies for international politics in this part of the world, because we are dealing with dynamic political and geopolitical changes. Moreover, strategies of strong isolation of Belarus seem to have exhausted their political effectiveness”, said Agnieszka Kozłowska-Rajewicz after the nomination.

The Belarus Working Group is part of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, and consists currently of 110 members: 60 members of the European Parliament and 10 members from each partner country, i.e. Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. For political reasons it has not yet been possible to admit Belarus to Euronest. The Belarusian delegation has been thus replaced by a Working Group, whose mission is to develop solutions that would lead in the future to the admission of this county to Euronest as a full member.
