Drone used? Ukraine qualifies blasts at Kalynivka arsenal as sabotage

The Military Prosecutor’s Office of the Western Region has preliminarily qualified the blasts at the ammunition depots near Kalynivka, Vinnytsia region, as sabotage.

“The Military Prosecutor’s Office of the Western Region has entered a case into the unified register of pre-trial investigations under Article 113 of the Criminal Code,” press secretary for the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Olena Hitlianska told Interfax-Ukraine.

According to her, SBU officers will be among the investigation team created to probe the explosions at the ammo depots.

A subversive group might have used a drone to set a fire, Yuriy Biriukov, an adviser to the president of Ukraine and assistant to the defense minister, said.

“A soldier at one of the stations managed to report a strange noise. After a few seconds, explosions started in the open area. The perimeter was secured, that is why we think a drone might have been applied,” he stressed.
