Detained politician Sevyarynets to face trial

Pavel Sevyarynets, co-chairman of the organizing committee for the “Belarusian Christian Democracy” party spent five hours in Baraulyany police precinct. He was later put in the remand prison. On September 6, the politician will face trial.

According to his wife Volha, it is likely that the politician was detained for participating in an unsanctioned event.

Pavel Sevyarynets was detained at the entrance to the Kurapaty. Together with him was detained Zmitser Kazakevich.

The activists have been guarding the Kurapaty since the early June. For three months the activists have been standing at the gates of the local restaurant and demanding that it be liquidated, as literally 50 meters from the entertainment facility there is a place of Stalin’s executions.

The local courts have repeatedly punished Kurapaty defenders with fines and arrests — all in all, more than 140 administrative cases were opened. The activists have several times been run over with cars with alleged visitors to the restaurant, there were fights with the guards. None of the people attacking activists were punished.
