Counter-terrorist operation launched in Dagestan


The Russian National Anti-Terrorism Committee said it eliminated a Syria militant. No other details were disclosed.

Counterterrorist operation has been launched in two districts of Dagestan,  interfax.ru reports.

A militia leader linked to ISIS was eliminated on October 24 in the Dagestani village Gimry during a counter-terrorist operation. According to the National Anti-Terrorist Committee of Russia, Abdullah Nustafaev had sworn allegiance to terrorists in 2015. It is known that in Dagestan could operate an underground terrorist group, which consists of 40 fighters.

In September last year, militants of the Islamic State published on the Internet a video threatening to start a war in the Caucasus.
