Belarusian enterprises not interested in production tourism

Belarus has developed the project ‘Production Tourism in European style’, the newspaper ‘Tourism and Leisure reports with reference to Halina Kabyak, a department head at the National Tourism Agency.

Within the framework of the project representatives of tour operators and Belarusian enterprises were sent to firms in Poznan, Dresden, Cottbus and other cities.

“Unfortunately, the majority of managers and employees of the enterprises did not happen to take any interest in it. There were hardly any enthusiasts among travel agencies,” Halina Kabyak states.

But there is also good news: due to cooperation with a travel agency plant ‘Lida Beer’ has been opened to tourists.

The issues of organising trips to former factories were discussed during European Heritage Days in Belarus, which took place in late September.

“Valuable objects disappear, because many of them do not have the status of historical and cultural sites of Belarus. For example, travelling around Belarus, one notice how quickly old mills and breweries disappear,” Anton Astapovich, the chairman of the Voluntary Society for Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments, told belsat.eu.
