Bullet killed Belarusian-born hero of Maidan examined 700 times – Ukraine's Interior

700 expert examinations were made over the bullet that killed Mikhail Zhyzneuski, a Belarusian-born defender of Maidan, Ukraine’s Interior Minister Arsen Avakov stated. And some 1,500 examinations are to be made, he added.

“If one is set to find proofs they will have to act in such a way otherwise a criminals can say ‘it’s not me who did it! I’m not to blame! The bullet was not mine!’,” Avakov said referring to investigations of shooting at people in Latvia’s Riga in 1991, censor.net.ua reports.

According to the Minister of Interior, Serhiy Nigoyan, Mikhail Zhyzneuski, Roman Sennik – the first people shot dead in the course of the Revolution of dignity in Kyiv – were killed with a pump gun.

“They put metal bullets [instead of rubber ones] into it and shot. We believe the shots were fired from the gun ‘Ford-500’ which were being used by internal troops then. We checked all the guns and found the level of metallisation of barrels. Then barrels and the bullet were examined…” Avakov said.

Mikhail ‘Loki’ Zhyzneuski left Belarus in 2005 and lived in the town of Bila Tserkva near Kyiv. He was only four days shy of his 26th birthday when he was shot in the heart on the morning of January 22 in Hrushevskoho Street. Zhyzneuski was an activist of Ukrainian organisation UNA-UNSO (The Ukrainian National Assembly – Ukrainian People’s Self-Defense). He was buried near the village of Znamya Pracy (Flag of Labour), Homel region. He was posthumously awarded with Order of Heroes of Heaven Hundred.
