BPF Youth activists detained during protest against army hazing

Dzyais Mandzik and Hanna Smilevich spent the night on Akrestsina street.

On October 16, three activists of the youth wing of the Belarusian Popular Front Party – Arseny Dzyadok, Dzyanis Mandzik and Hanna Smilevich organized a picket near the General Staff building on Kamsamolskaya Street in Minsk to draw attention to the problem of hazing in the army.

The action took place in the framework of the public campaign “Ticket to the next world”, the purpose of which is to prove the benefits of contractual service.

Dzyanis Mandik managed to inform the human rights center “Vyasna” that the activists had been taken to the Central police station.

Later Dzyadok wrote that he was released.

In the evening, the BPF Party reported that Dzyanis Mandzik and Hanna Smilevich were in the Isolation Center of the Offenders on Akrestsina street, the trial will take place on Wednesday.
