BPF party to support Tatstsiana Karatkevich in presidential election


BPF Party decided to support Tatstsiana Karatkevich as candidate for presidency, official website of the party reports.

“Today, on April 3, took place an enlarged meeting of the BPF Party Political Commission with the heads of regional party organizations, which reviewed the  issue of the BPF party participation in the 2015 presidential election campaign,” said the press release.

 

The party members said that they will support the candidate of the People’s Referendum in the presidential election, Ms. Tatstsiana Karatkevich.

In the autumn of 2014, five opposition parties and organizations agreed on the procedure of nominating a single candidate for the presidential election of 2015, interfax.by recalls.

Tatstsiana Karatkevich was a confidant of the presidential candidate Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu in the 2010 elections, participated in the elections to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus at the Kalvaryiskaya constituency of Minsk (2012). She is a member of the Belarus Social Democratic Party. The last five years, she has been active in the civil campaign Tell the Truth.

The exact date of the presidential elections in Belarus will be determined at the beginning of August 2015.

Earlier, the head of the Central Election Commission Lidziya Yarmoshyna noted that November 15 will most likely be the date for the elections. According to her, “it is the last opportunity for the Sunday election, since according to the Constitution, it must be held no later than two months before the expiration of presidential powers.”

Term of office of the President of Belarus Alyaksandr Lukashenka will expire on January 21, 2016.
