Border Guards Day in Belarus marked with alcohol


 Police restricted the access to parks for former military on the Border Guards Day. At the same time, former guards of the Belarusian border were allowed to celebrate their holiday with alcohol not far from the Palace of Sports.

The Border Guards Day is celebrated in Belarus on 28 May. This was the same day the representatives of the the KGB had their professional holiday in the USSR. It was on May 28, 1918, that the Border Guard Service of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR) was established by a decree of the Council of People’s Commissars of the USSR. There was also established a General Directorate of Border Guard, which included all the former officers of the separate corps of border guards in Russia.

Apart from Belarus, on May 28, the Border Guards Day is celebrated in Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
