A public hearing on the criminal case against the racketeers who had extorted money from local businessmen was held in the Pukhavichy court (Maryina Horka) on January 12.
Four people ended up in the dock. Three of them are accused of committing crimes under Part 2 of article 384 (enforcement of obligations), part 2 of the article 182 (preparation for the abduction of a person) of the Criminal Code of Belarus.
The fourth accused will be tried for the crime under Part 2 article 424 (abuse of power or official authority), Part 2 article 426 (abuse of power or official authority, committed from other personal interest).
There are known several facts of illegal actions of the accused. In particular, one of the victims gave them $ 22K after he was taken to the cemetery and forced to dig his own grave. Another victim was severely beaten with baseball bats in the city center.
