Berkut riot policemen dispersing protesters on Maidan find shelter in Russia, Belarus, Poland

Ukraine is after 18 police officers of the Berkut riot police who committed crimes against Euromaidan protesters in 2014. Two of them found shelter in Poland, one – in Belarus, Ukrainian officials say.

Anatoliy Dublyak, a representative of Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU), told Ukrainian Pravda that other suspects had fled to Crimea, Russia and to the territories controlled by separatists of the unrecognised Donetsk and Luhansk republics.

At the moment Ukraine is not able to ask Poland and Belarus to deliver former policemen, because Interpol has not put them on the wanted list, Dublyak stresses.

Today, Ukraine is trying to bring them back referring to the extradition treaty.
