Belstat: Inflation in January almost 2%


National Statistics Agency reported on rise in consumer prices and services.

In January, compared with the December, the CPI rose by 1.9%, and the prices of services increased by 4%.

In mid-January, the Minister of Economy Uladzimir Zinousky said on TV channel “Belarus 1” that this year inflation will have double digits, but “no more than 17-18%.”

Earlier it was reported that in January Belarus took the second place among the countries of the former USSR regarding the increase in the dollar rate (it was worse only in Tajikistan).

Does this economic situation contribute to protests of Belarusians?
