Belsat TV to premiere movie about Belarusian national hero

Film director Valery Mazynsky finished shooting a movie devoted to Kastus Kalinouski, a Belarusian national hero. The film will be premiered on our channel soon.

The script was written by historian Zmitser Kuzmenka. By now the authors have opted for the name “Kalinouski: Last Days. Reconstruction Attempt”.

Wincenty Konstanty Kalinowski, also known as Kastus Kalinouski was a 19th-century writer, journalist, lawyer and revolutionary. He was one of the leaders of Belarusian, Polish and Lithuanian national revival and the leader of the January Uprising in lands of the former Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. On March 22, 1864, the Russian authorities executed him in Vilnius.

Raman Padalyaka, an actor of Kupala Theatre, is in the leading role. A monastery in Baruny (Ashmyany district) became a main film set.

The action of the movie starts at the present day (rehearsals of the actors who reconstruct the events of Kalinouski’s life on stage) and then there is a flashback to his last days in 1864.

Thefilm duration is about 40 minutes.
