Belsat turns 10. Thank you for being with us all this time

The first independent Belarusian language TV station began broadcasting 10 years ago. The idea of independent TV in Belarus, that many thought was unattainable, became a reality. We have been working for you for 10 years!

We started our broadcasting on December 10, the World Human Rights Day. Since then, every day, we have told our audience about the most important events in Belarus and the world. Our crews work in every major city of Belarus and abroad, our correspondents are ready to travel to any place in Belarus to tell the audience the stories, which are censored by the official media.

Today, ‘Belsat TV’ is a live broadcast with news and commentaries, investigative journalism and reports without political censorship.

Documentaries and reportages of ‘Belsat’ have become our pride and business card. Their quality was evidenced by numerous awards received by our authors. At the same time, all the films are available to our viewers for free in the ‘Belsat’ film archive.

Another indication of the effectiveness of our work … is a continuous pursuit of our journalists by the authorities. During the spring ‘social parasites’ protests, our cameramen and journalists, working on livestream of the protesters, came under scrutiny of policemen who were performing a political order. Our journalists are also often prosecuted for acute and social materials..

‘Belsat’ journalists are always ready to help ordinary citizens, where corruption, abuse, bureaucratic and police lawlessness flourish. But for this help we have to pay with arrests, confiscations, and fines levied by the courts..

Our journalists risked their lives to prepare materials and film documentaries during the Maidan confrontation, the war in Donbas, and in the active phase of the Crimea’s annexation. Thanks to our principled, independent position we have won audiences outside Belarus: in Ukraine, Russia, and Kazakhstan. In 2017, we launched a special program for our new viewers from the post-Soviet space.
