Disabled people in wheelchairs are prisoners in their own homes. The “Belsat” story helped, but it’s only the beginning.
In 2008, an ordinary house was built in Yasneva street in Brest. But local authorities decided to make it “social” and put there people with disabilities. However, they “forgot” about the needs of persons with disabilities. Only in 2012, after the story broadcast on our channel, local officials invited residents of the house for a meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee Viktar Sakouski. Belsat.eu rescued 440 parrots
This year Mazyr border guards stopped the car close to the Ukrainian border. It was carrying 440 birds — mostly parrots of various kinds. Birds did not have papers, therefore they ended up being confiscated. In 2008, a similar case resulted in burning confiscated birds.
“Thank you for helping to spread information about the parrots. Thanks to our joint efforts, we succeeded in preventing birds from being burnt. As of yesterday evening, it was known that the veterinary service found the birds ready to be transferred to the Minsk zoo,” reads the statement of the Belarusian “Green” party and the “Protection of Birds of the Fatherland” NGO.

Thanks to “Belsat” lifts resumed operation in the homes of Brest residents
On May 19, belsat.eu published news about disabled freight elevators in houses #318, #320, #334, #336 on the Moscow street in Brest. Following the article on our website, inhabitants had the freight elevators turned on, but one of the two regular ones turned off. On the morning of May 26, our reporters once again call the Brest communal services office. Officials asked for an hour to sort out the problem. Ales Zaleuski’s investigation “character” drew attention of the law enforcement. A report on corruption in the Slonim communal service unit was released in October, 2014. It tells the story of the Tankistau street inhabitants in Slonim, who at the time of the house overhaul were told to pay for something, which in fact had never been done. This story author was even punished by a court for “work without accreditation”. Then Ales Zaleuski was fined about $ 500. In December 2015, the first director of the Slonim communal services unit resigned. Now it is the Financial Investigation Department that is conducting an investigation into this matter.

Alena Karol, sick with spinal muscular atrophy, found the money for the operation that saved her life. Now she helps sick children.
Residents of Homiel helped cancel the reconstruction of the Praletarskaya street which is a historical heritage. The street and the city’s main square, where they wanted to make three underpasses, were planned for expansion.

This year in Zelva, Hrodna, authorities held a certain social experiment. Local officials decided that the residents did not need hot water for the whole day — they thought it was enough for them to receive it for several hours in the morning and evening on weekdays and on weekends. After the story made it to our television channel, the officials stopped the “experiment” and turned on water to the residents of the district center.

This year there appeared posters in Minsk that advertised a virtual tour of the Belarus museums. The poster was to be in Belarusian.
However, some signs had mistakes in Belarusian and Russian words. This is not the first case of gross errors in Belarusian posters designed by the Ministry of Culture. After “Belsat” drew attention to the unfortunate posters, the project curator apologized for billboards with errors.
