Belarusians in top ten overweight European nations list

According to the Economist Intelligence Unit, this year Belarus took the 46th place in the ranking of the Global Food Security Index. The research was done on the order of the DuPont corporation.

The position in the ranking is affected by three indicators: affordability, availability, quality and safety. Belarus is on 39th place based on the quality and safety of food products. It is 46th in affordability and 52nd in availability (in this indicator, we have taken a more modest position when compared with the years 2012-2015). First place in the ranking belongs to the United States, the last one – to Burundi.

Based on the study results, Belarusians ended up in the top ten overweight nations in Europe. There are 23.4% of people living with excess weight in Belarus. First place in this antirating is occupied by the British. They are followed by the Czechs, Slovaks, Irish, Poles, Russians, Hungarians, French and Spanish. The thinnest in Europe are the Austrians.
