Belarusian Railways to not carry passengers to Crimea in 2016

Belarusian Railways will provide passenger transportation services to Crimea in the summer season of 2016, said Head of passenger management service of the Belarusian Railways Dzyanis Tankanog at the Monday press conference in Minsk.

He recalled that in the summer, Belarus trains will run to Kherson, Odessa and Novooleksiyivka.

“We cannot provide transportation to Crimea, it’s not in our power,” said Tankanog.

As reported, the trains from Belarus to Simferopol ran until December, 2014. Now tourists who want to stay in the Crimea, have to go there by bus through travel agencies via Russia or alone on an airplane with a connection in Moscow.

In March 2016 Spokesman for the Belarus Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dzmitry Mironchyk recalled that when planning a trip to the Crimea in 2016, it is necessary to proceed from the fact that the entry and exit to the mainland peninsula through Ukraine for tourism purposes was impossible.

“When visiting the Crimea through the territory of Russian Federation, citizens of the Republic of Belarus should remember that it can serve as a basis for refusing entry to citizens into the territory of Ukraine and bringing them to administrative responsibility in accordance with Ukrainian legislation,” said Mironchyk.
