Belarusian men and women in pictures: Who sleep, work, watch TV more?


What does the life of an average Belarusian look like in the long term? Belsat.eu has calculated how many years they spend for working, sleeping, raising children.

Our choice was the fields of life that usually take up the best part of people’s time, e.g. sleeping, work, cooking, sports, child care, hobbies, games etc.

Going in for sports: women – 0.9, men – 2.1

Childcare: women – 6.8 years, men – 1.7

Hobbies: women – 0.7 years, men – 1.7

Watching TV, films, reading newspapers, books: women – 6.3 years, men – 7.6

For example, an average Belarusian woman give almost four years of her life to cooking meals while men devote only six months to this activity. At the same time, Belarusian males ‘allocate’ more time for going in for sports.

However, it should be noted that the number of working hours a day is more or less the same, but taking into account higher female life expectancy, Belarusian women generally work longer.
