Belarusian independent media gaining popularity

The opposite is true about the state media.

Non-government media are gaining the trust of Belarusians. This is evidenced by the recent opinion poll. From 2014 to 2017, the confidence in the independent media among Belarusians significantly increased, while the official media lost the trust of Belarusians.

The latter have either full or partial trust of almost 67%, while the independent media have full or partial trust of 73%.

The fall in the confidence in the official media was explained by the the survey authors by the distance between what people saw with their own eyes and what is shown by the state media.

Almost 3/4 of the respondents receive information from state television, and only 42% — from the Internet.

Trust in the Russian media has increased by nearly 3% over the past three years and now stands at 74.9%.
