Belarusian drivers split down: 'Russian World' versus vyshyvanka style

Cars with opposing ideological messages are seen in the streets of the Belarusian city of Hrodna.

A trend to decorate cars in accordance with its driver creeds appeared not long ago. Earlier, some of them had a ribbon – white-red-white or St. George’s – in the car’s interior or at the antenna, But this spring Hrodna drivers started to customize their cars the whole nine yards.

The most interesting point is that one can see a black Mercedes with a red national ornament on the car body (the fashion for ’embroidered’ cars came from Ukraine) and Mazda with a poem about the ‘Russian character’ on the rear window in the streets of the same city (see photos above):

Yes, I am Russian! Let enemies remember forever

That I kneel down only to kiss my flag

Such situation is another proof of that the ideological boundary is not between eastern and western Belarus. It goes through every town and village where opponents live in neighbouring streets.
