Belarusian, Chinese paratroopers to take part in counter-terrorism war game in Brest


In accordance with this year’s plan of main international military cooperation events paratroopers of the People’s Liberation Army of China in company strength have arrived to take part in the exercise.

Premises of the Brest-based 38th independent mobile brigade will be used to stage a joint Belarusian-Chinese counter-terrorism exercise Dashing Eagle 2015 on 15-27 June, state-run news agency BelTa reports with reference to the Defense Ministry.

The Belarusian side will be represented by a mobile company of the 382nd independent mobile battalion of the 38th guards independent mobile brigade of the special operations forces of the Belarusian army.

The exercise will take place in the training area Brestsky. The Belarusian and Chinese military will practice preparations for and actual special operations meant to accomplish counter-terrorism tasks.

According to the Defense Ministry, a command post exercise (with the participation of Homiel region territorial defense forces) is to last until June 18.

“During the exercise it is planned to work out issues of gradual strengthening of the State Border of the Republic of Belarus in the southern direction,” the Ministry says.

In early June, it was reported that the Belarusian army was being built up close to the border with Ukraine.

On June 7, a series of military exercises of NATO in Eastern Europe started. The training will last until June, 20, more than 15,000 soldiers from 19 countries will take part in it, hromadske.tv reports.
