Belarusian-born separatist killed in Luhansk region

A Ukrainian sniper shot down ‘Jupiter’, a Belarusian citizen who fought for Russian-backed separatists, when shelling the separatists’ positions on April 15. Reportedly, his real name was Andrey Mokich.

According to preliminary information, ‘Jupiter’ was buried near the town of Stakhanov (Luhansk region).

“Two hours ago, we buried Andrey (Jupiter). We had served in one platoon for four months. His family is in Belarus. I do not know what he used to do for living in civvy street,” another militant (nom-de-guerre Semion), who comes from Russia’s Khabarovsk Krai, told RFE/RL.

A few month ago ‘Jupiter’ was the best man in the wedding of Natallia, a local separatist fighter. The woman states that his name was Andrey Mokich and he was born in 1975.

If his profiles on social media are anything to go by, the late ‘Jupiter’ lived in Minsk, came to Donbas in 2015 and took part in the fighting against Ukraine’s army near Debaltseva. Later he became a machine gunner at a separate intellingence unit of the ‘Ghost’ brigade.
