Belarus Youth Union prompting declaration of love for motherland

On 12-14 February 2016, the BRYU will hold an all-Belarusian event “For beloved Belarus!”where it will offer a declaration of love for the country, said the press service of the organization.

“The love for parents, children, family, town and village, to homeland – these virtues are the main components in the system of relationships between people, the basis of the existence of any society,” said the campaign concept.

According to the organization, in the course of the event they plan to hold a variety of competitions and activities. In particular, youth activists suggest creating mailboxes “Valentine postcard for my idol” so that anyone could send their wishes to their favorite musicians, artists, athletes, artists, scientists, TV hosts and so on. “The most interesting suggestions will be given to recipients,” stressed the organization.

The BRYU, apparently, did not take into account that the Belarusian language has two words for the strong positive feelings: love and affection. Valentine’s Day is also called The Day of Love, that is a day for the people between whom there is a mutual attraction.

At the same time, the other day there appeared information in the Belarusian segment of the Internet that in one of Minsk schools was prepared a list of people idols “to write valentines postcard to.” According to the photo of the list, the children were asked to write a “valentine greetings card” to the Belarusian President Alyaksandr Lukashenka, Prime Minister Andrei Kabyakou, head of the Central Election Commission Lidziya Yarmoshyna, a number of deputy prime ministers, ministers, heads of state-owned media, as well as a speaker and a leading officials of the Belarusian TV channels.

This year, the Youth Union, in cooperation with the Minsk City Executive Committee and the Ministry of Culture, plans to celebrate the holiday “Day of National Clothes” in July this year.
